I love contests, prizes, and give-aways! Seriously, if two sodas are sitting side by side I will pick the one with the contest cap every single time. Forget taste tests give me free stuff!
I'm not stupid. I know nothing in this world is free. I totally understand that companies use contests and give-aways to promote their products. All I can say is... YIPPEE!!! *applause* Bring on the prizes!!!
Who among us can say they have never eaten a free piece of fudge or drunk a free soda that has been thrust into your hand by a little old lady with blue hair on a weekend trip to the supermarket? Lord, I once ate a prune just to cheer a sample vendor up because it was obvious no grocery cart was coming within six feet of her display.
If a soda company can offer free cans of coke with the belief that a free sample will bring return customers. Why don't publishing companies mail out free copies of novels to randomly chosen readers?
I have total faith that if a person reads Miss Thurman's first book, "Nightlife", he or she will happily purchase all of her books. That's why I have decided to give-away a copy of "Nightlife" every week until "Madhouse" hits store shelves in March 2008. I am willing to put "my money where my mouth is"... and my mouth says these books are *LOVE*.
Addendum: "Madhouse" hit shelves early and is now available at your local bookstore. However, my mission feels unfulfilled. So I'm going to continue giving away copies of "Nightlife" every week until everyone has had the chance to try these books.
If you love *angst*, you will love these books! If you are a fan of action/adventure, you will love these books! If you like tales of elves, vampires, werewolves, trolls, and pucks with a unique, and in a lot of cases a most unexpected, twist, you will love these books! And on a personal note, as this is the way I found out about these books, if you are a fan of the hit show Supernatural, you will love these books!
So if stepping up on my soapbox has not convinced you to rush out to the store to pick up a copy for yourself... or you simply can't find the book... or maybe you're just not that easily convinced... or you can't afford another book at the moment (I know my friend's Microbiology book cost $240 dollars this semester)... than why don't you sign up for a chance at a free copy of "Nightlife".
Give-Away Details
By entering the give-away you are stating that you are either 18 years of age or have asked your legal guardians' permission to enter. (Just a silly little note to keep me out of trouble.) Winners will be announced every Monday. This will make someone's Monday a little bit less dreary and ensure the book can reach the winner by the weekend. Entries will be kept for one month and will be used in each drawing within that time frame. Please feel free to re-submit entries. Please email give-away entries to the contact email and label the subject as "Nightlife Give-Away" to make sure they do not end up in my junk mail folder. All the information I need is your email address. Please don't send me your name or snail mail addy. If you are one of the lucky winners I'll contact you for a mailing address. PO Boxes are fine. (As a matter of fact, I keep a PO Box for postcard trading so my personal info doesn't end up where it shouldn't.) I know it's not a perfect system but I assure you I'm not after anyone's money or personal information. I just want to promote a book and an author that has given me great joy. -

As we have already established nothing in life is truly free, so if you win a copy of "Nightlife" I require you to read the book then send me an email saying if you loved it or not. Just because I'm a nosy type person and would like to know. However, I promise that is the only return I expect on my investment. I can require so little because I know if you love the book, the way I think you will, you will purchase the rest of the series and tell your friends to do the same.
I know I probably sound a little crazy. I'll be the first to admit I get a little *crazed* when I love something. So if you need proof that I'm absolutely serious, check out some recent winners and their reaction to "Nightlife".
